I am running 24" RainX lattitudes, best I have had so far. I want to try the new michelins too! These are both kinda pricey, but the frameless "monobeam" (no frame) seems to work much better in the ice and snow for me! They dont streak or smear like standard wipers do! Most auto parts stores sell them buy 1 get one half off, still 30$!
I need something different than the factory blades They left a smear right in the center of the blade all winter. I don't know if they were too hard for the cold weather or what. We will see how they perform this spring in the rain. If they work OK in the rain, I'll leave them on until fall and change out to a winter blade then.
As far as how long I leave them on, As long as they work, they get to stay.
What do you guys like for Wipers and how long to do you go between changes?
Here in Colorado, we need them to be able to withstand 300 days of sunshine, rain, snow and ice. Havent found one that i can say that impresses me.
So what happens during the other 65 days of the year?
Michelin All Weather. I've abused mine beyond normal abuse and they've held up quite nicely (although I wipe them down with alcohol every so often). Expensive but I can get them to last a year, which includes ice and salt. Who needs an ice scraper anyways?
I'm really surprised to see that lots like the rain-x wipers. I tried them when they first came out and hated them. The ends picked up, they missed large sections of the windshield, and smeared the water around. I'm sure they have worked on their design since then. I have always used the Bosch platinum blades on my vehicles. I'll have to keep an eye on this thread to see if there is more info posted on the rain-x blades. Maybe you guys will talk me into trying them again.
I used the Bosch ICON's in the winter and use the PIAA Sporza in the summer on my 2002. For my 2011 I bought another PIAA Sporza for the summer and a PIAA Si-Tech for the winter. I haven't used the Si-Tech yet though. The Bosch ICON did perform well on my 2002 in the winter.
They aren't cheap but the Sporza that I had on my 2002 really performed well. I was having issues with the factory driver's side wiper blade lifting off my windshield at highway speeds and with the Sporza I had no problems.
