Question 99 v10 plug change.

ok, I have searched out all the plug change posts for the v10 and they are great, but none of them say weather the fuel rails have to be loosend up?
so Im sure theres someone out there that knows...
also, anyone have any experiance with the E3 Diamond spark plugs? I am not sure they are even platnuim. What about the aftermarket super coils?
Also looking for headers, an inexpensive brand for now..

Anyway, Anyone got some ideas? Thanx

No need to loosen the rails.

Don't use any plugs but Autolite double platinum or you'll be replacing them again shortly thereafter.

No reason to go to super coils, the improvements they claim they've made don't do anything for your engine so just use aftermarket replacements if you need them. 90% of the time, a misfire is caused by a deteriorated boot or a faulty resistor in a spark plug.

Lots of people claim to have good luck with Thorleys or Banks headers. I have the $100 ebay joints on mine. Just paint them before you install them and forget about them.

ok, thanx for the info. really helps. save a couple hundred dollars to have ford change them.

On the headers, you have the the $100 set from ebay? I will have to see what I find. havnt used ebay too much. I use Craigs list or overstock.com auctions for some things.

The OE plugs are Motorcrafts, usually single platinum. Autolites work well also. I buy single platinum plugs because the plugs get changed every 50k. Forget about the high energy coils, OE Motorcraft coils are top notch. As far as headers go, you get what you pay for. I have Thorleys on mine.

I agree with the above but I use regular Autolite 103's and change them relatively often to keep an eye on loose plugs and dirty boots.
