04 f550 117500 miles truck runs rough but it always ran. Today it wouldnt start after lunch. Well it does start but dies within 5 seconds. I unplugged the ICP and it started and ran like always. I replaced the ICP with a new one from ford. Still won't start with it plugged in. With it plugged in it throws a p2614 & p2617. It is also throwing a p0273 which is another story. Anyone have any ideas? Harness maybe?
I would start with harness chaffing. Try under the intake hose at the passenger side valve cover or in that area. To me it sounds like it's potentially a V-ref problem but that's a guess on my part. You might check V-ref for a short to ground also.
Truck does still start with the ICP unplugged. Plug it in and it just dies or won't start. Ill try unplugging #5 tommarrow morning and look for evidence of chaffing.
Didn't know a failed injector coil would do that. Interesting.
On a side note.....normal fan RPM's at idle cold and warm if there is such a thing?
Fan seems to be running normal. It did have a bunch of codes after they ran the batterys down trying to start the truck. One was fan speed sensor, which never came back after she was charged and cleared. It also showed like a random misfire code on number #5.
imo you have a bad injector. more then likly the screws poped off the spoolvalve and the coil is shorting. and possible cam and crank codes from not starting.
I would think that maybe you have a 2291 code as well but palying with the icp sensor may be hinding that.

Here's a pic about just how dead on you were.
1 injector 2 parts and like welding slag all over the spool valve.
