Like all the other highboys around here, I have the np435 4 speed. I would love to put a 5 or 6 speed behind my FE. Are there any options? If it means swapping to a 429/460 or a small block, I would rather not.
Thanks
The 5 or 6 speed I would look at Richmond, TKO, or Tremtec, and I would buy the best one you could possabley afford.
If you have the "modern spread on your bellhousing you may be allright, but if not theres FE car bellhousing available that work.
You may have to go to a hydraulic clutch set-up too.
I looked into this becouse I wanted a T5 for mileage, but I have the old style bellhousing. So its no-go for me. I will have to cheap out, and do a C6 swap with a new rear gear.
The cost for a decent T5 varient was over $3500, and all the way up to $6000 for the "best of the Best" type 6 speed. I can do a C6, and rear end for under $500 if I have some good luck to about 1300 if I don't.
how do you tell about the "modern spread"? Getting a new bellhousing would not be an issue. I would love to have a nv5600 behind a well built 390. Granny first AND double OD- mouth watering...
