We are in Bluff. A full day early. Plan was to camp south of Alamosa last night. We camped at Comb ridge instead. We are going to look for a campsite for the U um ta trip and hope to start the the Burr Trail today.
I had fun test driving Larry's heepie and even tried out the X a time ur 3.
Tonight we are camped at the real Hole In The Rock on the west shore of Lake Powell. Or at least a few hundred feeet above the lake. My air card needed extra $$$'s to work in Excalante. It's works fine in camp tonight though. Tomorrow we will drive back out and then up to Green River for 20 minute chicken. If we find a DQ we are gonna stop for a cone. May be one in Torrey if not I hope by the time we get to Denver thursday.
Did a fun little trail up 50 mile bench today. HITR rd. on this side is a 2wd rd. 50 mile is a real 4x4 road and we did a couple hours in 4 lo.
Made it to Green River for 20 minute chicken. I told Larry to blame this whole mess on me cause I had never had 20 minute chicken before and wanted to try it. It's snowing up in the mountians or was supposed to be anyway. Going to Denver today and I'll catch a ride with Caveman tomorrow.
tell us about 20 minute chicken Jack, does it have to pass some kind of strenuous testing before it can become the 20 mintue chicken, or is it hatched destined to be a 20 minute chicken, or, do they have a race? the ones that were faster than 20 minute get a second chance, and the ones longer become BBQ?
K. Pull up a chair and a cold one. Smoke um if ya got um. Back in the olden days (80's-90's) there was a thing called Pass Patrol. Folks boldly gonin where they never been before. They explored Colorado and Utah. The main focus soon became the outlaw trail. Some will notice that the leader of Pass Patrol aka "Outlaw" looks a whole lot like Butch Cassidy did. Others in the group went by "Sundance". Now in the real old west cowboys had a fondness for fried chicken cause they didn't get it often. Just so happens that "Outlaw" really likes fried chicken. Used to be a place in Blanding he liked but it closed. Now his was in the early days (80's) but carried over to the 90's when I was around. Green River has a place with good fried chicken. It's made up fresh and has a note on the menu that at least 20 minutes is needed to cook it. So there used to be a little thing about when Outlaw was 20 min out of Green River Caveman would order the chicken. And folks would say how bout some 20 minute chicken. That would mean lets go to Utah and explore some where. I've been going out west and doing trails with Larry for better than 15 years and I ain't never seen him get close to Green River and not have 20 minute chicken.
Now last week it was plain we were gonna be going by Green River on the way back to Denver. And I had never had 20 minute chicken before. So I told Larry if it worked out I wanted to try it and he could attach any blame needed for the trip to me wanting to taste 20 minute chicken.
So ifin ya want to go to Utah and camp out in the desert and boldly go where ya have or maybe haven't been before just ask around. Jus asked ifin folks are ready fer some 20 minute chicken.
