I have a 59 f100 that has a bad stering box. Is there a newer model truck that i can pull the stering gear box off and use on my truck? A newer replacement ford stering box preferable so there is little modification like the pitman arm.
When keeping the straight axle, you have a few options.
1) Rebuild your OE box, or have it done. This is what I did.
2) Go with a Toyota box and pitman arm from CPP. This is what I'm still likely to do in the future if I can scrape the funds together.
3) Go with a rack and pinion set-up. I have no info to add here, though there is a thread on here somewhere that documents this.
Thanks "black58" i'll probably go with the toyota box also but funds are a problem for me as well.
Wondering if you went to a wrecking yard how much the "toy" box would cost and then just buy the pitman from catalog?
Always looking for cheaper ways to skin this cat.
