blown plug

I've got a 2001 F-150 5.2 eng. Seems I blew a plug. What is expected cost of this? Anyone in Phoenix good at this? - Marc

You mean 5.4??? The correct way to fix it would be to get an insert, it costs more but will last much longer than doing a heli coil and actually makes it stronger. If im wrong someone will chime in. If you do go the insert route I think you can buy the kit from ford or any auto parts store, just remember to take your time and dont rush it. As for the cost it varies from place to place and from tech to tech. Some are experts while some may have only done it once or not at all. Good luck

yea you definitly want to do the insert. I just had that done in october 2010. Blew the plug right out. Bought a new coil and plug and had my neighbors shop do the work quick. I don't remember what it cost but it wasnt bad.

Price is very dependent on which plug blew, one of the front 4 will be a few hundred bucks one of the back 4 could easily be $500+ needing head removal.
