My 00 V10 has a missing issue when the truck is lugging at low rpms. I have replaced all of the spark plugs, they were in fair shape. Have have no check light coming on. Anyone have an idea?
Plugs were replaced to try and fix the issue. I used the direct replacement motorcraft plugs. The missing is still there at higher rpm's I just notice it more when its at lower rpm's. Did not replace any of the boots they all looked fine.
Talked to a local repair shop and they said they would hook it up to tell me which one is miss firing. Should you always replace the plug boots when replacing the plugs?

Took it to the shop they said #7 was bad. Off to the parts store to get one and change it out. At least its in the front and its not number 5. Any brand better than the other on these?
Replaced the coil that the code said was bad and still have the miss. I had the codes reset. How much time or driving does it take for the codes to show up again?
Hope you have better luck than I did. When my cop went out mine wouldn't reset. Kept showing missfire finally found out it took the computer out with out.A guy thats works on them said was a common problem and the computers are on national back order. So I sit and wait just hope if another cop goes bad it leaves the computer alone.

Another thing to check is the individual harness connectors for the COP's. I had a similar miss on my 5.4 V8 showing up n Cyl #7 even though a known good COP and new plug were installed. Seems somewhere along the line the locking tabs on that connector broke and wasn't making good contact.
Start the engine and push in on each connector to see if that affects the idle. If so mark the offender and head off to NAPA picking up EC259 for about $19 each.
Definitely change the boots AND use dielectric grease inside them---just good practice!
