HELP with tires!!!!!!!
I have a 99 super duty with a 4" lift and 35/12.05/16.5 tires on it currently from the PO. The tires are just tooooo big, the front tires rub the wheel wells if you turn too sharp, also they stick out so far from the wheel wells they are tearing all the paint off the inner edges of the fenders. I don't have a lot of money and would like to preserve my truck as long as possible. Not to mention the gas mileage thing. I was also wondering if taller narrower tires get better fuel mileage? Now what I did was bought some stock Ford Lariat Alum. rims off of Craigslist and refinished them. Now I'm to the point what size tires should I run so the truck don't look totally stupid with too small of tires and a 4" lift kit. I was thinking of running the new Kelly Safari TSR in a 285/75/16 or does someone think I can get by with a bigger tire such as a 305 or a 315. I just want a tire inside the wheel well that won't rub when I turn sharp. I greatly appreciate any input on this matter.
Thanks
Scooter
