has anyone on here painted their interrior? i pulled a few of dads ranger parts out and tried painting them and it turned out rather well. ill be going to the junkyard soon to grab some parts for mine and paint. has anyone on here painted anythng in their truck? dash? the pillars? door panels? i wanna see some pictures of it please!
it is not difficult at all. Just make sure what ever you paint or dye is CLEAN. I cannot say this enough, prep, prep, prep. I use duplicolor dye and it works very well. I dyed some door panels on a Lincoln I used to have and on some trim parts I got at the junk yard for my truck. I am quite pleased.
I have one interior pic in my gallery, the A pillar on the drivers side and the pocket in the door panel have been dyed. I know it is hard to see but the only pic I have right now.
i plan on doing the pillars and all the trim. and then one day do the dash and while i have it out swap in the blue led's. i'd like to find some cheap door panels at the junkyard as well and paint them and throw some blue leds in those lights as well.
This was done with Colorbond Interior paint, its a shade lighter than the rest of the interior, only because I painted over light grey....Should have base coated with black....
tdcarter, i love the finish you managed to archieve. Also, to post pictures here, you can use imageshack for hi-res pictures or create a gallery in the site if you don't mind having smaller pics.
As said above, CLEANLINESS can not be stated enough!! SEM, Duplicolor, and others all make interior paints that will work well. When you get ready to paint, wash the parts 2-3x with warm soapy water (Dawn dishsoap works well) let dry, then wipe down with a interior cleaning product (like SEM 3835 Plastic prep) then finish with a tack cloth to get any remaining dust etc. Spray with light even coats of paint and thats it.
