Noticed one of my cylinders not firing. It was one that a cable had grabbed rocker arm during instalation. Did a compression check on it and got Zero. Hmm.. Well I put 90psi to the clylinder to try and see where my compression going.. And I could not hear air coming from anywhere. I even cranked it over with the air preasure and still could not hear air. This has gotten me rather stumped.. One question in my mind is.. If the Intake valve is stuck closed.. Would I get zero compression?
This is good timing for your post..I just put a new cylinder head on my 300 sithe one one had bad valves so i got one from a 76 ford that could do about 140 before topping out). I had the same problem on of the valves are stickin on it what i would do is take a hammer and a piece of metal (bar preferable about 4 inches long. Loosen up all your rocker arms and hit the valves to see if one is stickin and if it is well your got your choices replace it or get a new cylinder head (used) for about 25 bucks.
I had the breather off the carb.. Still couldn't hear any air.. It is a rebuilt head. I PnP the head before I put it on.. I don't think I gouged the seats any but plan on Tearing backinto it soon as it stops raining
