center support bearing question....

Not sure what to look for or how to go about checking this?? When I pull out from a stop my truck feels like it trailer-hitches....but of course no trailer hooked up? Is this maybe the center support bearing? I can move it back and forth but what is too much?

I got about 240k out of mine but all are not the same. Not sure really if mine was bad but I figured what the heck and changed it.You might want to grease the slip joint on the drive shaft.
If you do,CHOCK THE WHEELS!!!!

As riverrat said, more than likely the slip joint. Make sure you keep orientation of driveshaft lined up. If you don't want to disconnect the driveshaft, you can lower the support bearing and grease the splines.

forgive my stupidity but when you say grease the slip joint what are you referring to? My truck has about 197,000 miles on it right now.

Mine is really not making a clunking sound in fact no noises at all, like I said just that initial slip/pull when pulling out...
