C4 & rear ratios & RPM's....

From what I can find....it appears the "stock" ratios in the C4 transmission are:

2.46:1, 1.46:1 and 1.00:1… reverse is 2.19:1

Of course...just about anything between a 2.03:1 to a 2.89:1
1<SUP>st</SUP>-gear ratio is available aftermarket.

Anyway...with a 3.89 ring & pinion...and 15" tire/wheel combo
around 28" diameter this calculator shows it'll be spinning 3268 rpm...

Does this "seem" sorta high for cruising the hiway on an extended
trip ?...

Just kinda rethinking some things...seems to be winding a little tight
for a LONG roadtrip......

Time to start looking for an AOD????

3268 at 70MPH would be good on a larger displacement motorcycle, but will be a bit high for most car and truck engines.

Heck, I'm under 2500 with a 4 cylinder and an OD trans and 4.10s and it's too high.....
