I know this is off topic, but if you haven't heard: There was a major fire in Listowels downtown last evening in which two Firemen where killed. One of the firemen may be a relative of a close friend of mine, don't have any details yet. My thoughts and prayers go to the families and their fire fighting comrads.
It's quite a tragedy. I have great admiration for volunteer firefighters who drop whatever they're working on to risk their own lives in order to protect other people's lives and property.
Sad news guys, I knew both of those firemen. Ray more than Ken. Ray was a member of the Legion and a Kinsmen, Rays dad Ron, is a member on our eucher team. rest in peace guys. We will all miss you a whole lot.
Heard about that last night on 11 News BUT missed where it was and found out this morning!!! Sorry to hear that my thoughts and prayers are with each family and friends!!!!
Truly tragic, we've all lost family and friends I'm sure but to lose someone in such an abrupt fashion like a fire must hurt so much just because you never really get the chance to tell those folks how you feel.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of those two fire fighters.
Listowel is going to be a busy, quiet and solemn place this weekend. Main street will be closed for the funeral procession. The arena will be packed, but there is a television link in Atwood Community Centre and at the Listowel Legions Parkview Auditorium. We are expecting about 10,000 people for this. I had heard that a TV station, I beleive it was A Channel news, was making a mockery of this and I don't wish any hard feelings, but if you can't do a better telecast, then just BUGGER OFF!! Sorry for the rant guys. John
