sterling 10.25 and 10.5

i had a question on the sterling axles in the 88-97 3/4 ton and 1 ton, i noticed 92 and older are a short shaft and 93 and newer is a long shaft up to the 07 10.5. i want to convert my 88 10.25 to a super duty 4 bolt flange but it is a long spline and mine supposably a short shaft does anyone know how much longer the long shaft yoke is compaired to the short shaft. is there any way there is enough threads on the pinion to bolt a long spline yoke to the axle

i'm not entirely sure what you are asking here, but it seems to me that you are wondering if you can bolt a 93 and up pinion yoke to a 92 and down pinion? from what i have read you have to replace the pinion and the yoke for that to work. I could be wrong. hopefully someone will chime in and we can figure out the answer.

The difference isn't but around 1/4 to a 1/2 inch I think. But , I wouldn't bolt a long pinion yoke on a short pinion. I think that's just askin for problems.

if that is the case that it is only a 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer then i will see if the new yoke will chuck up in my uncles lath and then machine it down to the same length as the short shaft

It wouldn't take much to do. The flat flange is the way to go.
