Loooong start ??? Resolved... I guess?

I've noticed the last few times I've started my truck, the starter is turning over probably twice as long to start as before. This all started after I installed my full exhaust, can't see how it's related but still have to wonder. It feels like after I installed my FRx kit, like there's air in the lines. A couple times, right before it fires there's a slight split second hesitation then it starts right up. No other abnormal signs and it runs great. I just wonder if there's something I should be looking at? Maybe some sensor that may cause this, a sign of something starting to fail? Thanks.

Are you sure your batteries are loosing there bang? Weakening batteries will still spin it, but cause for slower starts.

I suppose it's possible. I bought them when I bought the truck 2 1/2 years ago. Yellow tops from AutoZone.

Put a charger on them overnight and see if you can tell a difference in the morning. I know the last time my batteries went south, I didn't know how long I was cranking until I put new ones in and seen the difference. Might get someone to help check the cranking voltage to see what you got.

Mine seemed like it was taking longer to start when my ICP sensor had oil in it. I can't say it was bad at the time, as in checking it with AE but I believe it is starting better now. Just saying maybe take a look at the plug on the ICP. Probably not your problem but wouldn't cost nothing to look.

Thanks guys. Dumb charging question, do I just hook the charger to the driver's side battery or do I need to disconnect them and charge them individually.

Since they are hooked together, they will charge together. Just hook to the drivers side and you will get them both.

Charged the batteries and have no change to my long start ups. I timed them and they're exactly a full two seconds from the time you hear the starter until the engine lights.

Using AE, I ran ICP pressure, duty cycle, and volts. What else should I run to test the ICP and IPR? When I hooked up AE and attempted to start the truck, it wouldn't start. I cranked it a few different times and then thought maybe it was AE running those tests. It finally started but took a long time. I re-ran the test to see if it was AE causing the extremely long start times and it wasn't. I was back to the two second crank time. Now I wonder if the HPOP was low enough to cause that??? I'm going to wait until tomorrow or Tuesday and check the HPOP level.

I need to get this figured out pretty quick as we're taking the trailer out in a couple weeks. Here's my ICP info from today. Please let me know what other sensors or test I need to add or run. Thanks guys.

Also, what's the best way to post results? It looks fine in Excel,Word, or Notepad but it looses it's format on this page.

IPR might be causing it. Your ipr will get weak, or not fully open while cranking until eventually it will become closed shut causing a no start issue. Cranking should take no longer than 5 seconds. I would look into rebuilding or putting a new one in. Even if its not it, it should be done but i have a feeling it is. Sometimes the tin nut loosens( loctite it)

Btw, does this happen both hot and cold, or just when cold?

1670 seems pretty low. My hpop gauge hops to 3000 at startup.
Im saying sticking ipr.

Thanks for the reply Josh. This happens hot or cold. The truck has around 120K miles on it. I'll check that tin nut too.

Well I started driving the truck more frequently and it's back to the normal start up times. I guess the batteries were down a hair, I didn't change anything else.
