Hello everyone, just found this site, I think I will become a regular here.
I just bought an 85 F 250, the fuses keep blowing for the turn signals and the brake lights, I have replaced one of the rear light sockets, everything works fine for a bit then out they go, also the running lights don't work, head lights work fine, but no tail or front markers. I have done all the basic trouble shooting, bulbs, fuses etc. and can't find the problem, any suggestions?
Look for a cut in the trailer plug wiring that's shorting to ground. Do you have ANY other electrical mods; alarm, fog lights, stereo? The parking light circuit is a simple Brown wire that feeds the marker lights on all corners, roof markers, and trailer markers (parking lights) from Fuse #4. The turn signals are on Fuse #5 & brakes are on #1.
ty, no other mods to truck, was pretty basic, no radio or anything, i'll check the other fuse location for park lights, i cut the trailer lights , they were grounded out, gotta keep looking.
found the problem, orange wire with blue stripe at steering turn signal connecter was pinched betwwen steerin column cover and metal, was shorting out, fixed that and prob is gone. thanks for the help.
