I was wondering what you guys think is a good automotive window cleaner. I've got a car with something on the windows that will not come off. I've looked at different window cleaners at auto parts stores, but I don't know what I should stay away from and what I should look for, other than to look for brands I know like Meguiars and such. Thanks
Robert
What kind of somethig is it......greasy, sticky, etc.... You may try using a razor blade if its hard, or maybe even Goof-Off(if not tinted). Is it inside or out?
My Dad used Comet once a few years ago but it scratched the glass and left a halo effect when the windshield was wet like during a rainy night. I'd be leary of any abrasive myself unless it was very fine.
At a local auto parts store I found a product named No Touch Auto Glass Stripper. Worked great, removed a lot of tree sap and even cleaned off Rain-X. You might have to do two applications to get the windows perfectly clean and you have to be very careful not to get it on the paint. Also, like someone mentioned earlier, I've had some success soaking the window in coke-cola then rinising in vinegar, then water and polishing with newsprint paper.
Bon ami works great , you can feel the glass clean up right as your working with it.Its the only household cleaner that wont scratch glass.Ajax and comet will scratch glass. Gold can with a baby chicken on it. Try it on a small spot first a can costs about a dollar
Go to local auto glass shops and ask them what they used. Thats the best advice I can give yah. My dad owns a glass shop and the stuff they use is great. Its alchohal based so it will take off alot of stuff. It is a foaming type and is put out by ppg glass.
I couldn't tell you what to get personally... but STAY away from ammonia in cleansers if you have tinted windows. It'll turn em purple
Go w/ a cleaner made for tinted windows, same price and you dont have to search the "ingredient" lists
