Low oil pressure?

This afternoon I noticed my oil pressure gauge in my 92 was showing real low oil pressure. There's no rattles, or odd noises, and power seems to be normal.
So is it just possible that the oil pressure switch, or sender or something else going/ is bad?
I know when I lost oil pressure in my 93 the engine started sounding like a diesel, rattling real bad. This isn't the case with my 92.
Thanks in advance.

Stock gauges suck. Put some Autometers in to really know whats going on. Great investment.

You can get a replacement sender for like $5 though.

might try changing the oil pressure sending unit. only around $10 at the auto parts store, but just to be sure you could get one of these...

AS 86F150302 put it, stock gauges on these trucks suck. They only register @7psi and that needle can vary anywhere in between L<--->H. There is a TSB for this from Ford.

If a sender doesn't fix it, then there is a good chance the part in the instrument cluster has gone bad and you can get a replacement from LMC. They are proud of them so you might keep your eyes open for a used one.

i just had a guy check my tranny, Young kid, and he came in saying that there wasn't any oil pressure. I asked him if he was looking at the stock Dash gauge or the gauge near the ashtray with 50 psi showing...he looked surprised when he noticed it then..LOL

Here's an update.
This morning first dtarted the truck, the pressure was a up a bit. It wasn't where it is normally but up. I kinda expected it to be as it was cold out and the oil being thicker etc. Within 5 miles it went back down too low.
I went to first job site for about an hour, the guage was till the same when I left.
I went to Lowes and was in there for like 15 minutes, the guage was up again, sitting on the "o" in normal.. Begin driving the needle drops again to low.
I make several stops all day and the needle stays at the too low mark, til tonite around 6 I start the truck to drive home, and the needle go up to the"m" in normal and stays there the whole trip home.

What does this tell you? Is it the guage?
I am going to change the sender, so I have some questions. Where is it on the engine? Is it easy to get to? Anything special I need to know about the install, any tricks etc?
What is the TSB mentioned earlier?
Thanks again.

watching that factory gauge is almost pointless, due to its extreme inaccuracy. my 90 is at the "n" sometimes below at all times with less than 70,000 miles, my 92 is at the " o" at all times, and my 96 is at the "a" at all times with >245000 miles, and all of them have sufficiant oil pressure. the best way to know for sure is buying either a manual oil pressure gauge from an auto parts store or one like i posted

sending unit is located by the oil filter... i believe
