I have a 351C in my 74 ranchero and I have to have it semi road worthy to drive it to paint.
Once the engine is heated up it runs OK but I think the timeing is way off
If you step on the gas it backfires. we put a timing light on it and at idle the white line was maybe a half in. above the needle. I cant make out the timing marks.
I think it needs to be advanced. do I rotate the distributer clock wise or counter clock wise?
Tried researching it, and could find a picture stating anything. I will try to get out tomarrow and see what side of 0 you need to be on. Also I found my belt strap wrench for turning that distributor. Damn 351c have the same problems as the 351m/400s.
No vac gauge, but I do have a digital timming light. It wasn't working the last time I used it, but it worked the time before that, so maybe it will work again. Wouldn't hurt to try I guess. It has a tach so thats a bonus. See when I can get some free time soon. Got to do some work probubly this next week and the week after, getting ready for the season. I will get ahold of ya though.
