Congrats!! Glad it works good for ya! I installed pyro in location I posted
I didn't want to tap my manifold so I just tapped the crossover on the drivers side about 5 inches away from the manifold. It should be close to as accurate as yours, Dave S. always said to tap it right after cylinder 8.
So far it idles at around 270 ish. I've went up a steep hill and got into it, I saw 850 then I backed off and it almost instantly went down to 400. I got a really long steep hill im going to try later on this week. I will let you know what it gets to. Now remeber I do have my fuel turend up with no turbo.
As far as the actuall drill and tap on the manifold, it was super easy. I did it right at the #6 cylinder (second to last driverside)
My tap was pretty painless also, but I had to get all the metal shavings out or they would mess my turbo up. Its nice will n/a cause they will all just fly out the tailpipe. It was just easier for me to make sure no metal shavings got inside by removing the crossover, tapping it, clean out metal shaving and then put back on the truck. If I had tapped the manifold, I wouldn't have had a way to get all the metal shaving out but if I was n/a, I woulda done it like you did.
ok does drilling the hole in the manifold while engine running really work best to blow metal shavings out rather than letting them fall into the exhaust?
so how about if you use a vacuum to get as much shaving out as possible then maybe crank engine over but no start? would just the compression from the starter kicking it over let the metal shavings pass safely?
