took out the old 91 ford this weekend and noticed a couple things.. one i just filled her up with gas but when you shut the truck off and come back to it after a while the gas gauge shows that like a fourth to an 8th of a tank has already been used even though i maybe drove 5 miles. once you turn the key the gauge goes back to F where it should be what is causing that? also when starting the truck for the first time she revs to about 2k rpms for a while but as soon as i give her a little gas she drops down to 1k. is that a sensor issue? i find it odd she revs for a long time unless i tap on the gas a little bit other than the fact shes 20 years old.
also if anybody knows good tools to use for repainting thatd be appreciated.. not sure if id want to spend a lot of money on a paint job or just sand it myself and do some rustoleum paint job. like other f150s in this generation paint is crap, peels off real easy when left outside in the sun was repainted once before a while ago back when my dad drove it but still peeled off over time
Sounds like you have an older F150 that is running. Guaranteed everyone's F-series from 87 to 96 exhibit's those same problems. Is that gas gauge accurate when you are driving? I f so, who cares what it reads when the engine is off. Engine high idle at start up but lowers when you tap the gas? No worries.
