Hey guys so I'm am planning on pulling the manual trans in my 87 F250 it has a 460 and 4 speed and is 2wd. I'm not exactly sure which trans I have but I'm leaning towards a T-19, now I don't quite know how the shifter comes I've read all kinds of other pages on it and quite frankly im confused. As for removal of the trans itself it looks pretty straight forward and easy but that shifter looks a little goofy. Also would anyone happen to know the complecation level of a rebuild or the cost to have it rebuilt?
Think I read on here that the shifter is held in place by 2 bolts on the passenger side, you have to remove the trans. access cover on the floor to get to it.
Ok thanks so is the t-19 a complete pain the rear to build or would be easier to take it to a trans center to be rebuilt, I'm pulling it myself its just rebuilding im unsure of
Well Im not sure if its something that I can do in the driveway rebuild wise or not cause I think I need a press to get the bearings and gears off the shafts don't I. Ihave a lot of tools im just not a trans expert but im really not in the mood to give my first born to have this thing rebuilt profesionally lol.
A C6 is no more than 300-500$ to have rebuilt at a good tranny shop, including all the necessary parts to rebuilt, I can't imagine a T-19 being much more...
Because it has only first gear you put the stick were its in the neutral position and let out on the clutch it still goes forward in first. I can't get the stick in 2 or 3 and has no reverse even with the stick in that position. So all i have is granny first. not fun
