Ignition sticking
Hi,
When I turn the key and start the truck (2002 F 250 5.4), it seems to stick in the full on position and something is making a sorry kind of noise. If I back the key off as far as I can without turning the ignition off, the noise stops and all seems fine.
What need replaced, the ignition assembly, starter, something else?

The ignition assembly. That is what's sticking and it is getting stuck in the START position so it is still cranking the starter.
You could try to save it by pulling it from the column and giving it some dry graphite lube.
If that doesn't work then replace it.
Also check th linkage from the igition cylinder to the actual switch. Make sure that isn't getting stuck.
