I am not a mechanic or Ford wizard, but I had this problem some time ago with my 1992 F150 Custom, injected 300ci I-6, auto. My bucking wasn't particularly strong but it was happening consistantly at cruising speeds. Problem didn't appear very often when I burned 93 octane gas, but did when I burned 87 octane that factory specified. Wouldn't happen on hills or during acceleration. My dad, on hearing my symptoms, guessed it was some kind of "lean burn" problem. For some reason the problem went away and returns only occasionaly.
Knowing what I know I would have to agree with PaulHenderson. I thing it is a fuel/air mixture issue related to the EGR system. Follow his recommendations as per restricter. I will if my problem returns full time.
Need help with fixing a problem of when pushing down on gas pedal my 1986 302 ford van, bucks, jerks, has loose of power to engine. I have replaced the distributor, rotor, full pump, fuel filter,& spark plugs. It will run alright for a short time after replacing each of these things then it starts again. Runs good while idling. Any suggtions for my problem from anyone.
Well I'm back I finally got the problem fixed (jumping& jerking).I keeped replacing parts but it ended up being THE STRAINER FILTER BEFORE THE GAS PUMP.THE STRAINER IS A PAN CAKE FILTER HIDDEN UNDER A 1/4 STEEL PLATE ON THE FRAME BEFORE THE PUMP.This is the one you should change more often than the one after the pump or when lacking getty up and go . This filter was 1/3 the size the one after the pump.napa had the filter on hand. you just unscrew bottom with oil filter gripper pull out pancake filter out of bowl put new one in screw back in place .WATCH THE NEW O RING YOU PUT IN ,IT COULD FLIP OUT & GET PINCHED.
Do I have one of those i dont think i do but you never know
