This site has a universal kit for the broncos, the brake should be the same, but I'm not sure if they ever made a bronco with the same relative dimensions as a longbed, standard cab 250 hibody.
Anyone think this might be worth a shot? Other ideas?
Got mind off eBay new. I replaced one bad one then noticed it was just a hair shorter,
I guess it stretched over the yrs so picked another one up at about at haft the price from the same co. Just no other bidders this time. These cables our not the same, left only will fit the left side. I can't think of the name right now. Maybe I can find the paper work. Which side do you need cause I still need to install the new one but won't be to soon cause other stuff to do b4 I can do the cable.. Okay the Co. was Green sales www.GreenSalesCompany.com The left cable p/n C7TZ2A635E 1967-72 4x4 only..hope this helps... orich
So there's a left and right hand cable? Would replacing one cable mean that that side will lockup? Or do some truck have one, and some trucks have the other?
There is a right and left hand cable. I got mine from CarQuest for about $40 each.
The right side is longer...I'm guessing both may be shot, the springs at the end
of the cable inside the drum usually break into sections and don't return very well.
To get a solid adjustment, I think both would need to be done. I'm assuming you
have the Dana 60 rear.
Ah yes it may 6 just be the cab cable that needs some lube on the inner cable . I had mind that was that way and just replaced it since it was so cheap. Plus the cable may need an adjustment itself..And adjust the rear brakes up to.

Have you looked under your F-250, 2500? There is a cable that runs from the footpedal to an equalizer lever under the bed. From here runs the right and left cables to the associated brake assemblies. Check to see if the pedal cable is connected to the lever. It should also have a return spring which attaches to the crossmember behind it as I remember it. The right and left cables should have springs which keep them out of the way of the rear axle u-joint. I lost a cable on my F-100 when I lost the spring, and the cable went into the u-joint, almost tearing it in two. A good cheap manual to get would be the Haynes for the 73-79's as they are almost the same trucks under the sheetmetal.
Reviving this thread because I never did manage to get the cables.
It turned out the cables are completely destroyed; frayed ends at the back of the adjuster assembly are all that remain.
I've looked everywhere, and C7TZ2A635E and C7TZ2A635F are simply not to be had.
It's almost spring, and I'm in the process of ordering the next round of parts for the truck, and this is one of the things I'd really like to have fixed.
The company doesn't list one for a 71 in their catalog, but they list a set of cables for a 1969/F250/4wd/longbed which should take the exact same cable.
Alright, I managed to find and order the right hand side cable. Both cables are 73 and 21/32 inches long.
I wasn't able to find a left hand side cable. How likely is it that if I order another right hand side cable I'll be able to use it in the left hand side?
For either side, are you sure? Everything I've found has said that the 68-72 4wd longbed trucks use a C7TZ2A635E for the left hand cable, and C7TZ2A635F for the right. They are both the same length, and from what I've heard that length should be 73 21/32"
If that is true that this one won't work, then that is quite depressing.
Aw ok if this what you ordered 68-72 your OK. Sorry for the mix up on my part. I was on my pain meds having to deal with chronic back pain most every evening.
" I thought you had ordered one's for a 1973 yr 4x4"

I hope it works, it would be great to have a working e-brake.
Are the cables similar enough that I could get another right hand cable and use that in place of the elusive left hand cable? They are the same length iirc.
