Problem with '85 302 EFI
I have always been able to get it back home by keeping in 4th gear and fethering the gas petal - If I push in the clutch, it will idle fine and very smooth and I can push the RPM to about 1000; but, above that, the engine starts to feel like it's running on two cylinders and has no power.
Now here's the kicker - If I turn off the engine and let it set for an hour or so - I can start it up and it will run fine the rest of the day - real good power and runs smooth.
At first I thought is was a little water in the tank and added a bottle of "Heet" - did not help.
I check the computer - The old count the flashes - I couldn't get any codes off the computer - it just flased code 11.
I have a new iginition module - one of my projects was to take it off the distributor and relocate it to the fender it does not get hot at all.
Anyone have any ideas on what to look at next?
Thanks for your help
Oscar.
On a side note. I bought an 82 full size Ford car that had the throttle body injection. There were two injectors. The car would start and idle fine, but would have no power under a load...like yours. It turned out that one injector had a speck of metal blocking the needle valve. I basically had half the fuel available when trying to drive. Moral of the story is that you have to have ENOUGH fuel at the correct pressure to make power.
