I've been reading this forum and posting for a few days now and I keep seeing this DPF delete issue arising on the 6.4. I would love to get some opinions or some knowledge as to what the DPF does, why should it be deleted, how do you delete it, and does it void ford warrenty doing so.
I'm looking into buys a 6.4 in the near furture so all input and advise is more then welcome.
Bottom line, the DPF is required by the EPA, it is a EPA violation to remove it, and the only way to remove it from your truck is to get a programmer/tuner that turns off the regen process. Adding a tuner voids your factory warranty. Thats all the negative.
On the flip side it seems that the guys with tuners and no DPF arent having trouble. The regen process is known to mix fuel with your oil so doing away with the regen has this benefit as well as better mileage, better power, and I think most of them bypass the EGR as well which is another problematic area on these trucks.
My personal opinion is that its a gamble no matter which way you go. Stock trucks are breaking down more than tuned trucks but at least the stock trucks still have a warranty ...... usually anyway, Ford is fighting back on major repairs even on stock trucks.
