I was thinking about replacing the restrictive stock y-pipe on my '01 F250 with a better flowing one but from what I have been reading a lot of people that did this switch had problems with the exhaust "fluttering" afterwards. Has anyone done the y-pipe switch and if so what was there a noticeable power/torque gain and how bad is the fluttering?
If you're talking about the V10 then I suppose there is some chance of getting flutter but alot of V10 folks on here have done it and I don't remember alot of complaining about flutter.
I did it on my 5.4L and it doesn't have any flutter problems. It made a very noticeable increase in throttle response and power on the bottom end. I did the y-pipe in combination with the headers so that came into play also, but it was definitely a noticeable increase.
