Is a Edelbrock 750 to big to put on a basically stock 390? The engine is an S code out of a 67 Fairlane GT. It has a Holley on it now, and I have no idea as to its size or even how to tell what size it is. Thanks.
This can be a heated subject, but since you asked I will say that a 750 is too much carb for a stock 390. I have seen a formula for computing needed cfm but can't recall it. Anyway, for my mild built bored 390 it came to 660 cfm or so.
My truck came with a 750 and as soon as I can afford it I think I will go with a Holley Truck Avenger 670cfm.
If you look at the list # on top of the choke horn area and post it here we can tell you. For instance: an 1850 is a 600 vac secondary, a 3310 is a 750 vac secondary too, a 4776 is a 600 double pump.
