later model mirrors

Has anyone ever put aftermarket or later model mirrors on their truck? I want larger telescoping mirrors for towing and I've never liked how close to the driver my mirrors are. I was thinking about removing my vent windows and fabricating a bracket for larger mirrors like these.

This would cut down on visibility, but allow me to run larger mirrors. I was wondering if this is possible or not. Would there be a hole in my door from where the old mirrors were? I havent really done much researching yet, just toying around with the idea in my head. Has anyone done this and have any advice or pictures? Just for a reference, I have the typical small power mirrors on my truck now.

Ive seen it done a few times, doesnt honestly work very well or look to good as I see it.

If you go to LMC truck you can buy the manual adjust-fold away metal bracket type mirrors and one set they sell flips out on the top even further. Or you can get the fold away metal brackets and put mirrors from the towing package on them-ya know the really big tripod style-just need the mirror tho.
