Unfortunately yes, the rear harness changed in 1984.
Lots of wiring differences between 1980-1986. 1980 has the most wiring differences of them all.
As CTUBUTIS, said above, a good wiring diagram would help to see all that is going on.. I have all of them for the F-100/F-350 between 1980-1986 so I'll keep helping all I can.
