No my son just purchased a 06 in Florida and brought it back home in PA. He's having some cold start issues. New FICM was installed don't know when. I was just wondering if he has the latest flash. I have read from other posts that it helped with cold start issues.
the one before that helped also .. find out what he has if it is older than the last 2 I would update otherwise I would leave it ,, post up the # if u get it pulled from the PCM
VXCF9 is the latest for 05-07. If it doesn't have that flash then I'd get it just to "redo" the aggressive FICM strategies of the earlier flashes. The flash came out in Dec. 09.
I also have an 06 and was wondering if i should go get the "latest" flash on my truck. how do i tell which one i have and if i should/shouldn't get the new flash

Thanks Bill, I posted your reply on Super Duty & Heavy Duty Page where my son roc2178 posted (Florida 6.0 not liking the Northeast) He purchased an 06 F-250 4X4 short bed down here in fl and we both drove it back to PA and it ran great. After the purchase while here I changed oil & filter with Rotella 5X40 synthetic & Racor filter; Replaced Fuel Filters with Racor Brand..Dropped trans fluid and replaced about 7-8 qts and installed new ntz filter..Told him to drop trans fluid a least 2 more times..Installed Fumoto oil valve..Installed updated HFCM water drain plug; Installed engine block heater cord. I think that would have gotten him started. Wanted to do a complete VC-9 and coolant flush but we didn't have time as he had to get back up north. Truck is running great except for the cold start!!! Thanks Rocky

Tuning is not the issue with the cold starts. It is a build up in the injectors with the oil. I feel that programming only covers the issue up and does not "fix" it.
What oil is he using? how often is he changing it? what filter?

I used Rotella 5X40 synthetic & Racor filter was just changed when truck was purchased 2 weeks ago. I think he should try Rev-X other members on FTE seem to have good results with it.
I agree try the Rev X a little pricy but I found it solved my rough start problems.
I myself have 2 bottles of Rev-X sitting on my shelf for future use, I know I will need it sooner or later, so like to have it on hand..Yes pricey it is!!!I think I paid 72.95 total with shipping from rev-x website.
