Mark,
Thanks for the encouragement. I hope I'm able to get up and down when I'm 72. It's getting tough now!

Finally got the left side rear cab mount made. It still needs welded. It's just tacked. My welding sucks. The square tubing runs up inside of the original U shaped running board bracket. Eventually I'll weld it to it. I plan on running a diagonal brace from this to the next factory bracket to give it fore and aft support.

Another angle. Still need to sand the edges and make it pretty.

Looks like you are getting ahead of me even more! Where are you going to mount it?
I got sidetracked on my C600 with a seal leak on the power steering box and a new project which I don't need, but couldn't pass up for $600.00.

A 1947 Dodge 1 1/2 ton truck. There is a place fairly close to me that has all the parts necessary to complete it, so I spent some loot to pick up a few parts. Not sure if the wheels are split rim or bead lock, but I'll find out soon.

Best wishes, Mark.

Nice find. It's hard to tell if they are split or not from the picture. The tank mounts behind the rear axle between the frame rails. The spare tire crossmember needs to come out and the tank goes in. I got it home and it looks even better.

What vehicle did the tank come from? Post plenty of pictures as to how you accomplish the installation. I'm working toward that end of the truck in the next few weeks.

You will probably need a fill-up once a year with that monster!

Regards, Mark.

The tank is from a 2004 F350 cab and chassis. He thinks it 44 gallons but may be 40. It was a diesel so there isn't a pump in the tank, just a sending unit. I looked and they make a replacement for gas engines with both the sending unit and pump in the tank. The skid plate is pretty stout. The spare tire frame brackets behind the rear axle get removed and the tank goes there.

It's been too long since I've worked on it but I finally got the spare tire X-members removed so the big fuel tank could be mocked up between the frame rails. It's close but it will fit.
The 2X4s will be replaced with X-members

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get it started up over Thanksgiving week. Lots to do still. I need to raise the rear of the tank about an inch when I make the x-member.

Hi guys,
Hope you all had a good Christmas and are doing well. If you don't celebrate Christmas, no disrespect intended.
It's been in the 80's here and I finally got off my butt and did something. I've been collecting parts but not doing anything with them.
I ordered a fuel pump/sending unit combo and replaced the sending unit that came in the fuel tank I bought last year. It was from a F350 diesel and they use an external pump. I'm hoping by going OEM, it will last a while and work well.
