So finally I've got her up and running, my 79 F250 Supercab. Gone maybe 200-350 miles in her, just driving around town, running errands, etc... now I live in New Orleans and the streets are crap, but I swear I can feel a shudder in the truck, something that was not there, 25 miles ago. Kind of a stopping starting feeling even though I've gone 15 miles and it is 70 degrees out and warmed up.
Me thinks this is:
#1 I should give her another tuneup after having driven it around and the truck has sort of adjusted due to all the banging around...
#2 Fuel pump may need adjustment...
#3 I know I have a rear main engine seal leak, not sure if this could be
a problem causing the shuddering...
. Is the fuel is fresh, fuel filter changed recently. It'll be a little easier to diagnose with some details on the shudder. Can you explain the "shudder" you are experiencing?
Fuel is fresh, the filter is new as of 200 miles ago. New PCV Valve as well.
I guess when I say shudder I mean there is a lot more play in the engine, kind of like it is chugging along versus running smooth like it was 25 miles ago. It could use an oil change, as I did one 300 miles ago when I first started working on the truck, but I imagine the oil may have kicked up a lot of engine debris and so maybe it is time for that.
When I say shudder I mean when the truck is in between idling and 10 miles per hour.
