It's somewhat accurate if you have stock wheels. You may want to reset it by pushing both buttons at the same time. What you see is an average since the last time it was reset.
It is a v10. The rason I ask is its a rebuilt motor an I stuck new plugs coils an completely cleaned th intake an throttle body on it. I bought it with a bad engine so I dunno what it got before. It had a full tank off gas in it so that's what I'm still running on. I just got my motor put back in last week. I have test drove a few around here an they would avg around 10. Think the old gas could have anything to do with it? It sit for about 4 or 5 months.
The overhead is hit and miss - some find it accurate - many others call it the lie-o-meter due to how inaccurate it is...
Do judicious hand calculations to verify if yours is close to correct....
sorry if I'm stating the obvious:
fill it up the same time of day, at the same pump, in the same orientation, to the same level a couple of times,
note the miles and gallons each time, then divide miles by gallons...
then not worry about it since you bought an 8000 lb truck that slips thru the air like that elephant on the commercials
but is as safe for your family as a vehicle can be !
on edit - check all mechanicals to see if brakes are dragging, etc... but your mpg does not sound odd if driven like a sports car !
also, it is an 11 year old vehicle that probably needs a tuneup..
The best thing you can do for mpg after all the maint. is done, is drive it like grandpa....
get a device like the scangauge or ultrgauge the gives you instantaneous mpg and optimize it... good luck ! and welcome to the Ex's !
nope, i average in town 8mpg with mine. best of 11somthing. also has to do with driving conditions. we have alot of large hills. plus half the year i run in 4x4. dosnt seem to matter if you drive it easy or drive it hard it gets the same mpg either way.
and yes i drive it hard/fast. as they say drive it like you stole it!!!!
I calculate pen and paper and reset the overhead with every fill and its bang on. I wish it had the current like my caravan sure keeps your foot from dropping when you see the numbers live.

Get a scangaugeII ($159 autozone.com) it'll not only let you monitor your temps more accurately than your dash "idiot gauges" - but it also gives you all the trip features you are use to with your Caravan. And it is a basic code reader too.
I watch instaneous MPG and it sure shows what happens the harder you press on the go pedal.
For the 6.0 crowd the scanguageII is important so we can monitor our ECT vs. EOT temp range to keep an eye on our oil cooler effectiveness.
Or for $75 you can get the Ultra-Gauge. It has instand MPG and trip MPG so you can get both to compare. It is also a code reader. Still have to manually re-set the fill ups like your factory trip computer but it's a nice info center. I love mine.
