93 centaurus conversion van

i just got my first ford conversion van (Centaurus xlt) and i am loving the room, look and overall feel of the van. i have 5t kids and the room is so nice. but i have a few small problems.

1.the rear tv,vcr, radio will not power on
....i have checked the fuses and came up with nothen
2.it has a very lite shack/vibration when you are on the gas let off and it goes pretty much away
.... thinking tie rods/ bushings maybe

other then that it seems to run just great i am use to suburbans and trucks so this is a nice change and i think a good deal

93 ford E-150 Centaurus conversion van xlt 5.8lt v8

thanks guys this seems like a great site

It's a fuse issue, and it is not under the dash, look under the hood, there should be an 8 gauge wire for the added accessories.

fuses are in check they have the box for the "accessories" over top in the conversion head panel

i got the vcr to work and the tv for a min then it went out i think it is the wire coming from the fuse to the tv/vrc i will replace and let you guys know

as for the front end shack guess i am just going to take it in and have the tires rotated and front end checked

but she is still running great other then them few things

got the odd shack fixed. I had to replace the front u-joint. one ear was broke and the cap was busted surprised it held on that long. now the thing drives like a dream

all that is left is rewire the TV and it will be 100%

Congratulations on your acquisition. Van looks great. Centaur vans are distinguishable with their 4-rib insignia.

Before you put gas into it -- make sure you service the transmission first. Yes. Drop the pan. Don't overighten the pan-bolts and make sure sure you have some helicoil on-hand.

Engine is bulletproof but it will skin your knuckles when you change the plugs.

I don't think it is worth dealing with that old TV. I went with a 15 inch, then 19 inch flatscreen on mine. You will be much happier. About $ 200-250 expense. Same thing for the VCR -- get rid of that and get a DVD/VCR combo and power both through a small inverter.

If you want to get a little fancier, get a new head-unit and hook up the TV to the HU for surrround sound.

Me too! Mine is a 1997 and I am in the process of getting everything up and going, so far so good just a couple items left and then I will start with the updates (It already has a 19" hdtv) if anyone has access to any information on the LCM Centaurus for that year (actually any year at this point) I would be very interested in anything you have (including photocopies) and willing to purchase it. We really love this awesome van!

Wow that's a good looking van, wish mine looked that neat, mind you for what I paid for it I'm not complaining. Do you have any paperwork on your van - anything from the conversion people "Centaurus" and what is the van a mk II or mk III

Hey Karl,
Sorry it took so long to reply. No users manuals yet..but I did score a couple of spiffy sales brochures. . On a side note I managed to get everything up and working! Including the A/C. Now just have to get a battery isolator, deep cycle gel cell battery, and an inverter. (For the TV) and oh yes a blu-ray player. I also managed to score an old roof top box for the roof rails which I am going to paint to match the Van (Local paint shop was able to mix the color after using a spectrometer on the paint.) I also discovered it came with a factory keyless entry (who knew?) I got a couple keyfobs and works great!
Have a good one!
Lee

P.S. I don't think they had model differentiations in 1997, not sure but I see nothing to identify which model. I know that by next year they had suspended operations. It is strange how many van conversion companies were located in Elkhart IN. at the time..

well since every one is showing there recent purchases of a conversion

van or club wagon.not sure of the difference. I just purchased a 1992 E150 with a ricon wheel chair lift. that is why I bought it. now just fixing up things. The paint on mine is not in the best shape, fading and just wearing off. but still real nice inside. I too have the old style TV inside. but the inverter is missing and I am not sure what else is missing there. so I would like to know what amp rating to get for an inverter and how to wire up thing. lots of wires in the overhead.

Congratulations, can't help with wiring issues, but have a 1993 E150 wheelchair conversion with Ricon lift that we've had for two years and love it. Enjoy

I also have a 93 Regency conversion van that I still really like. Bought it used about 15 years ago and it's really served me well.
