i have a 00 v10 excursion and i just changed all the coils boots and plugs and misfire is still the same. here is a list of the codes i have P0184 SYSTEM TOO LEAN BANK 2, P0300 RANDOM MISFIRE DETECTED, P0303 CYLINDER 3 MIFIRE, P0306 CYLINDER 6, P0308 CYLINDER 8 MISFIRE.i am at loss right with what too do. if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it.
Ok I can see coils counting as the misfires but if it is misfiring it would create a rich state and not a lean state and this is what confusing me about this
Also recheck every single coil electrical connectors again . Many misfiring can be caused by coil terminals that are not seated right (yet they look OK visually ) . Good luck
I ordered a set off of ebay not the ones above in my previous post but they have a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty on them. I asked if had any problems with misfiring and said no problems with that. They have the same specs as stock. They are from a auto parts supplier in new jersey
Ive actually never run across a bad coil. Most of the misfires come down to bad plug boots, the lack of dielectric grease or a bad spark plug. These plugs have resistors in them so they do have a higher chance of going bad than standard plugs. You should take those suspected bad coils and put them on different cylinders and see if the problem follows the coil or not.
I bought the same ones from Ebay a year ago and they work fine. No more missfires or stumbling. They're cheap enough I'll change them all again if I ever have any trouble. $45 each verses $108 for 10
