Question X Headlights

Hi guys,

I have a 2001 ford excursion with the stock headlamps and I was wondering, is it possible to switch these ones out with the clear headlamps that come on the 05 excursions? WIll they directly bolt in and woiuld i have to do any modifications?

WHere can you get them too? best price?

THanks, sorry for all the questions in one thread

I have a 2000 excursion and i mounted the 2002 style smoked headlights with no problem. all mounting hardware was in proper location. i got my replacements off ebay for like $120 or around there. I also have a 1999 f350 which i changed over to the 2002 style clear lens with no problem. both replacements were made by eagle eyes manufacturer. the only problem i have had was fadeing of the "chrome backround" caused by water entering the corner bumper light. i did have the rubber gasket in place but i may not have had the marker light fully in the "lock" position. so be sure to have it quarter turn locked when installed. good luck, hope this helped. i do believe the 05 style should bolt in directly. by the way, i think the head lights are the single most important upgrade in making the truck look younger than it is! EDIT: sorry for the misdirection i hope you didnt take my word for it. i thought the 05 would mount right up the same!

Yeah when I caled the Ford dealership they asked me why I wanted to change them out and they couldnt number one give me an answer as to wether or not it would work and number two they couldn't believe I wanted the clear lense instead of the dated opaque lense that came on the truck.

I appreciate the help, so if I go on ebay and find a 2005 clear lense it will bolt right in, great!

Yeah that looks great. I searched far and wide for a 2005 mainly for the upgraded front end. Really glad I did. Love the look. And thus far, my headlights show absolutely no yellowing or corrosion. They are still crystal clear.

Don't quote me, but I think the '05 may be different from the '99-'04.

the 05's dont fit through the header panel like the 99-04 so youll have to trim it. also they take different bulbs so youll need a harness adapter. its easier to just get a set of clear 02-04 lenses off of ebay and direct swap.....

The lights pictured in your link are considered "Black" lights, these are made by Eagle eyes manufacturer but not the style I have installed. The style I have are considered "smoked". It appears with the "smoked" lens they have taken the regular clear style lens and put a slight tint on the lens. The "black" style looks to be colored on the inside housing, but still has a clear lens. The reason i didnt get the "black" lights is because to me the upper light does not match the lower corner bumper. I can tell that while the corner bumper is fully colored, they left an area in the upper light uncolored, or "chrome", obviously for better light output. The "smoked" lens installed on my truck certainly devistated my light output to the extent that i had to compensate by installing fog lights (also oem style "smoked") with hid bulbs, which really helped. Here is a link for "smoked" style - for the purpose of an image, not best price (ebay is usually the cheapest).Ford Excursion 00-04 / Super Duty 99-04 H.I. w/ C.l Smoke Amber - (Sold in Pairs)

check out the light output difference from stock to smoked. You can tell!

And the foglight fix

NO. if you want to install the 05-07 headlights on a pre 05 truck, you have to cut the header panel quite a bit to get the lights to fit through. then you will need an adapter harness to go from the pre 05 headlight bulbs to the new h13 bulbs. or cut the ends and get new pigtails for the h13 bulbs.

the header panel is the panel behind the headlights. it runs across the front of the truck. the 05 headlights are deeper in the back then the 02-04's so you have to cut some of the panel out of the way for the whole assembly to fit in properly....

Is that going to be a PIA to cut the header panel?
