I was given this truck the other day but I don't have any information other than what was in the dash identification label. I was wondering if anyone knows the type of engine.
Year 1965
Serial # F60CE302917
based on that info, the engine type cannot be determined. Very likely that the engine is a 352ci V8, but...
check the inside of the drivers side door for a metal tag. this is the warranty plate, and (if original) should give us more info to work with. better yet would be any casting numbers from the engine itself...

W.B. 74
Color: J
Model F600
Trans F
Axle F2
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to FTE
color: J = Rangoon Red
Trans F = 4 speed Warner T98-A
Axle F2 = 6.33/8.81 gear ratio 2 speed rear end? just a guess on my part.
F60(C) is Engine code ???
F60C(E) is Assembly Plant, Mahwah New Jersey.
302917 = Consecutive Unit Number. month, day, etc...
That's a casting number for the engine. The fourth character in your VIN is a "C", which would make it a 292. The casting number says it is a 64' engine.

This truck is not a 1965 according to the last 6 numbers of the VIN, it's a 1962. If you took the following info off the Warranty Plate (located on the left door face below the latch), be aware...
That people swapped damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they did not install the original Warranty Plate on the replaced door.
Compare the VIN on the registration to the VIN on the Warranty Plate to see if they match.
1962 as original: The Warranty Plate is located on the inside of the glove box door.
F60 = F600 (gas).
C = 292 2V (the distributor is behind the carb).
E = Mahwah NJ Assembly Plant.
302917 = 1962 Numerical Sequence of Assembly (the trucks specific serial number), assembled June 1962.
F2 = Eaton model 13802 Two Speed Rear Axle / 6.33/8.81-1 / 15,000 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.
Date code on C4TE bare block: 4E15 = Block cast May (E) 15, 1964 (4).
A 1962 would not have a C4TE engine as original.

If using FTE VIN decoders, they aren't worth TWO CENTS! Have errors and omissions.
FE engines were not installed in 500 and larger series trucks.
Casting numbers are WORTHLESS for ID'ing engine sizes, engine parts or what vehicles the engines came from. Casting numbers cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.
