2011/2012

Hope this has not been discussed..........

As I am getting closer to ordering, what are thoughts on doing it now or waiting a few months for the 2012?

1. When ordering would price be any higher than the 2011 (not counting any price increase, but incentives and such)

2. Any changes for 2012?

3. One question I have had and thought I read it but forgot. When does the warranty start? Build date...Buy date????

1) Ya...prices will probably be higher, incentives lower as well as dealers may not be as willing to discount.

2) No news yet

3) warranty starts on reported sale date.

Depending on how bad you need it or not, I personally would wait for a 2012. Its so close, if I was spending the money I'd rather spend a little more and get a hole year newer. Now a salesmans will try and sell you on the 2011 saying that at resale it will be a "low mile" 2011 versus a "high mile 2012" compared to those (like me) who have already put a years worth of mileage on the 2011s.

The only need is doing it before I have to put any more money in my 6.0. It has not been too bad yet, just EGR.

I would kind of think, just being a few months off, we would start hearing about any updates for the '12.

That's exactly what made me order a 2011 when I did last May. Not long after the extended warranty had expired on my '05. Well, that, and two EGR system problems during my last long tow. The last straws of too many before them.

I am throwing around the idea of getting a 2011 F350 KR... with every passing day it gets harder to not order, but at the same time, I am thinking I'll wait till the 2012's come... get more of a deposit... and get less issues... hopefully...

Information I have read indicates you can begin to order the 2012's on May 18 2011, and they start building them in July. I'm waiting to save more and check out what changes they will have. If at that time, there are no significant changes, I would have no problem buying a 2011 off the lot if it meant getting a better deal.

I was like a little kid had good intentions of waiting to see what the 2012 superduty offered when I started looking, next thing you know I was ordering a 2011. I just couldnt fight the urge.

I'm having the same damn problem....very difficult being patient, and it's the difference between having a truck at the beginning of Summer vs mid-late Summer! Just hope we see some of the changes/updates before it's too late to order an '11 in case the wait isn't worth it.

The info I have says the order cut off date for the 2011's is 06/03/11, so you should have time to make that decision.

Welcome to FTE...this site has the best info on the internet for the 6.7 Ford diesel trucks. Look around a bit...you will like what you see...Have you driven a 6.7 yet?

I have to ask you...what issues? There have been very few problems to date with the new engine.

Regards

The good thing is after I ordered my good buddy started getting the taste for a new truck also. Bigtime chevy man he told me "I am a chevy man and have been all my life" so I told him to do me one favor. At least test drive the super duty before he buys. He went and test drove one on his way to the chevy delaer. Never got past the ford dealer He said "There is no need I have found what I want". When I talked with him last night he was on the ford website building a truck.

Thank you, I have been reading here for a few weeks... Since I found you guys doing my research on F-350's.

As for the issues, they are minor I agree. But the chatter from steering on some trucks, as well as the cold weather check engine light are the two that come to mind. Both will be fixed I am supremely confident of that. What is holding me back more is to see what they do for 2012... I highly doubt that it will be any worse than what they have now. I have pretty well got everything inline for what I want.

I talked to my Ford guy today and he said current incentives for me on a 2011 Super duties is 4250. I believe that includes a $750 "Explorer" coupon they sent out. Basically if you received an email/mailing showing the 2011 Ford Explorer and $750 it is in fact usable for other Ford vehicles as well. Quite a bit more then the $1000 rebate I got.

As far as changes he didn't have any info yet. Everything on his computer at the moment was just showing the same as 2011's but it will get updated. I figure I'll read about it here on this forum before he does.
