In the engine bay of my son's truck the vacuum controller in the hoses running to the firewall is leaking again? He bought the truck 6 months ago and we noticed the coolant leaking around that (vacuum controller?) I replaced it. 1 month ago my son noticed the same device leaking so bought another one and put it in, he doesn't live near me so I can't get my hands dirty. Now the new part he put in is leaking? I think something is causing pressure to build up greater than it normally would and fluid is leaking past the vacuum actuator in the black plastic device? Sorry I don't know the proper name for that unit but it has a total of four lines running into and out of it! I also believe he has the heater door problem as well because when we first purchased the vehicle we noticed the heat is on all the time and is only not warm when heater control is turned Off. I don't think the door problem is related to the engine bay device? Any suggestions? Thanks, Mark

it is called the heater control valve......are you sure the fluid is coolant? was it hooked up right? did you just buy the truck? is there vacuum in the line?
When I replaced the original part I reconnected the hoses one at a time. There were different diameters which also prevented incorrect connection. I will phone my son and get him to check for a vacuum and post that info. Also the fluid drip is green like the antifreeze I don't think it is something else?

could the hose itself have the leak? could it be the hose that goes to the TB?
Some of these plastic heater control valves just aren't made very well and fail often. You may need to go to a different store to get a better quality valve from a good national brand. Or you may need to get one from your local dealership for the best quality. If you had too much pressure in the system it would blow past the radiator cap and go into the overflow tank. The cap acts like a pressure relief valve is rated for a specific pressure range.
