302 needs rings?
I have something that I'm almost certain is an issue, but wanted to make sure before I move forward. I pulled the motor from my 86 F150 on Sunday so I could replace a cracked oil pan. It's an H.O. from an early 2000s Explorer. After getting her up on the stand and flipped over, I was thrilled to see such beautiful cross-hatching on the cylinder walls. All but one that is. While hand cranking it to get a better look inside each cylinder I was met with a decent amount of air being expelled from the #3 cylinder. I was hoping to get away with only doing a little freshening up - oil/water/fuel pumps, new gaskets, and a new thermo - but now am I looking at a full tear down? Thanks in advance.
