Question need some help

Okay first question I have a thump when coming to a stop and it feels like its hitting the driver side floor board I can't find any thing loose would bad ball joints cause this ?

Then I was hoping my ball joints on the driver side would hold up till spring so I could change them but I put new tires on and I'm scared to even drive it with all the play so I'm having a shop do it and was wondering if $650 for upper and lower both sides and a alignment is a fair price ? Its just to cold out to be changing them in the drive way

Thanks jordan

I was going to say swaybar end link bushings but if you jack up your front end, so the tires are off the ground, get a pry bar under the tires and lift up. If theres play, up and down then you ball joints are bad. Both side ball joint job at that price isn't bad, I paid 500.00ish just for one side and I wasn't happy aboudit.

When you had your new tires installed did you have the alignment checked? If so, did they tell you that the ball joints were going bad. Did they charge you for an alignment then? if so get your money back for that because you cannot properly align our front ends if the ball joints have slop.

also double check to hmake sure your front shock has not come loose for the lower mount.

and yes $650 is a fair price for both sides...... Its sure a hell of alot cheaper than new tires.

In addition

Definitely look at the end links, they will beat your floor board like its coming apart.

After that, I would really look at your slip joint on the rear drive shaft, it may just need grease. It really feels like its in the front, and its not.

Do the jack test with a crow bar as well and look at the ball joints, but that is my 3rd suspicion in this case.

No I pulled the rims and old tires off and took them in to get my new good year duratracks put on cause nobody would mount them around hear cause there not stock size there 285x75R16

When I pulled the rim and tire off the driver side I could wiggle my hub up and down its bad I new they were going out back in early january but was hopping they would last till spring so I could change them out so I called the shop I have work on my POS sonoma for a quote and he said moog balljoints and seals with alignment will be right around 650

So check sway bar bushings where can I get new ones ?

Bushings

I don't know the miles on your truck or its use, but its definietly a considertion. Call Clay at riffraff, he has them, but talk to him, he will steer you right, he is the most honest vendor I have encountered.

Another vote for Clay, I'm sure he carries the Energy Suspension kits now. I did my swaybar-endlinks with a kit, real nice price for polyurathane bushing but you shop will have to press the new bushing in your endlinks, their tuff.
