sway bar links

Has anyone ever lengthened the sway bar drop links on a lifted 4x4 truck? My '78 F250 4x4 crewcab has anti-sway bars front and rear. I installed a 4" suspension lift so the drop links are too short. Has anyone lengthened these and any suggestions on how to do it? I have an idea, but would like some ideas from others here.
Thanks!

I did to my 79 Bronc. I just cut them in a strait part and added what length I lifted the truck. I used 1/2 or 5/8 round solid (cant remember the size). Just make sure you bevel the ends good before welding.

I lengthened my swaybar end links 4" for a 6" lift on my truck. I went two inches less to get them tucked up there a little further. I cut the ends off the original links and bent new rod to match the bends on the originals and added 2" to either end. Actually on the front I had to measure the distance between the upper bolt/mount and the spring to make sure the bent would clear the spring
I ended up pulling the sway bars off my truck because they were unnessesary with the stiffness of the lift springs and I dont haul a lot of weight. I have the links and the sway bars on Craigslist right now if your interested.
