Question A/C problem

I have a 95 explorer and whose A/C doesn't work.

When I switch it on, the acceleration goes up and down in a regular basis.

I locked the outter plate with the rest of the system using coins (I know this was crazy), and the A/C worked (but it would never be turned off).

I checked the power and there is electricity on it. Actually there is electricity on the A/C wires as long as the cooller in turned on.

I dont know what might be going on. I guess the problem is not with the compressor once it worked fine with my experiment.

How can I test the clutch and the magnet? In addition, is there anything else that could be causing this problem?

Any help / advise is welcome.

Thanks.

A/C problem

Remove the coins. The clutch is "cycling" because there's low pressure in the system. There's a switch on the accumulator that senses when the pressure goes below ~19psi on the low side and cuts the power to the clutch (on the compressor). This keeps the system from ever getting below atmospheric pressure and sucking water in, and it also keeps it from getting below 32°F and icing up inside the dash. You've obviously lost some refrigerant, so find the leak, fix it, then recharge the system. If you don't know how and/or don't have the equipment, pay a pro. You probably have an R-134a system, so it shouldn't be very expensive.
