Hi , I keep reading some post where some have seafoamed thier engine?? what is this? Thanks , sorry if its a dumb question just never heard of it before
Seafoam comes in a can and you can find it at your local auto parts store. It supposedly helps clean out carbon deposits in your engine. I've never used it, so I couldn't give you specifics on use.
I've used it quite a few times on a couple of trucks. with my 91 i used to put it in the gas tank before emissions just as a cya, and every no and then i put it in through the brake booster vac hose it sucks it into the system and cleans out the carbon build up. i noticed a smoother idle and quicker throttle response.
It's a chemical formula that ACTUALLY works. You can pour it into your gas tank, your oil, or your vacuum tree on the plenum. It literally cleans out all the bad carbon deposits. You pour it in, let it sit for around 10-20 minutes, start your vehicle up, and it cycles through. A work of caution though, it will smoke...the older the engine the more smoke they say, so do it at night or very early in the morning!
But it really does work man, and worth the $10 that it is.
I used it on my 1994 f150 300 i6 and it did wonders for my throttle response, i put it in the vac line off the Master brake cyl, my gas tank and in my oil, and after a few miles i noticed the difference right away
mine smoked for about 5 mins after i restarted it but noticed that it ran smoother almost immediately. i drove it up and down the road too just to make sure it cycled properly.
its 1/3rd a pint is what is calls for, but i used a little more figuring that was a generic amount for all size engines. when you guys put it in the gas tank does it smoke throught the whole tank of gas? or only when you put it in the vac line. i ran it through the vac line and just 1 puff then clean. is that just a clean engine? haha
I put it in the gas tank and it seemed to help with my throttle response and the stumbling feeling I got in the school zones. 20-30 MPH and I would feel a hesitation and that is mostly gone.
I have yet to use it straight in the vacuum line or in the crankcase but I am curious. How much do you use in the crankcase and do you change your oil after you run it?
