Are you wanting to go with a solid axle in the front? The F250's came with TTB also, which is why I ask.

I'm guessing you have a 4x4?

If you want to go solid, you need a Dana 60 axle out of an F350.

It would be so stupid to do this swap on a half ton truck it's not even funny!

Frames aren't even the same. You front axle is sitting on coil springs, F350 has leafs so the frames are different. It's still possible, but your looking into lots of $$$ plus ALOT of time and fab.

It be smarter to sell that truck and buy a 4x4 F350 or 4x4 F250 and then swap it out. It be an almost direct bolt in.

umm....i guess you dont know much about the swap as it is fairly common, not very complicated, and not terribly expensive if you have some fab skills, a welder, and the time to do it. oh yeah, lots of guys that properly prepare with the parts needed and the know how are able to do this swap in a day or two. i am actually looking for donor parts to do this very swap in my 85 Bronco, which is 1/2 ton.

d44 is another option too. it is found in 79-79 broncos, 70s f150 and f250s. d60 was also in some f250s in the later 70s, but not as common. there are low pinion versions and high pinion, as well as kingpin and balljoint. 78-79 high pinion, kingpin are the best/strongest, but the most difficult to find and most expensive.

you have to determine if you want coil or leafs. leafs are a bit simpler, cheaper, and easier to find. coils have a better rep for ride quality, but leafs can be tuned by the user for many varying ride characteristics.

i think i'm going to do a leaf d60 in by bronco, mainly due to cost and simplicity. this will require a custom crossmember to be fabbed between the frame rails to allow for the leaf spring front mounts (mounts must be fabbed as well). then, the rear spring mounts off of a leaf sprung axle are almost bolt-on. steering is bolt on. shock mounts may have to be fabbed as well. the difficult part comes into play with making sure you set up the axle with the proper caster angle.

i suggest that if you really want to due this, do a lot of reading. there are plenty of resourses to use for researching exactly how to do this swap so you dont have to learn the hard way. use the experience of others to your advantage. lots of people have done it and are willing to help you along the way, but read up on it to know what is involved!
