Has anyone had any experience replacing the stock ignition coils on a 2000 Explorer with a 5.0l. I have come across MSD Ignition replacement coils that are supposed to supply a stronger spark and was curious if there is any improvement to be gained using these MSD coils. If recommended, I will probably also replace the original ignition wire set with an upgraded one.
Any input and/or recommendation would be appreciated.
Yes it does help. I put a full MSD system on my truck but before that i replaced the stock coil for the MSD Blaster 2. It helped enough to notice. But it really helps when you get in your powerband; around 1800-2000. I would recommend it.

PS Accel also makes a good strong coil and they are a tad bit cheaper. just whatever you are willing to pay.
most MSD ignition systems can deliver 120milijoules of spark energy for approximatley 20 degrees of the crank rotation. so hell yes i would go MSD. but look for 8.8mm "super stock" wires from accel, they run about 30$ compared to MSD's 8.8mm wires which are about 90$ also i have seen many a headder eat MSD's wires within minutes.
