i've been doing alot of reading about tuners since i would like to buy one.
there is one setting you can have added for a high idle during cold weather . well my truck already does this, it will jump up to about 1100 rpm or so when i first start the truck in the mornings. i thought my truck was stock, i've never done anything to modify it .
so is this a stock option or is it possible, the previous owner made some changes? thank guys tapit
The high idle is OEM programming. When certain temperature parameters are sensed by the PCM, it activates the high idle for faster warmup. You can get a tune that does it as well so you can control it when the PCM doesn't kick it up. I like it myself.
ya i kinda thought it was stock. ialso read about removing the foil from the turbo tubes aswell, so i looked at my early 99 and i dont have any. i think i read my truck didnt have it from get go. thanks again guys , i love this site man!!
The high idle is also handy for getting the AC to work better in hot weather if you are sitting and waiting for something.
The stock high idle won't do that.
